The Data Modeler will work on projects to define and develop logical and physical data models that satisfy Parexel’s financial and operational reporting, analytic and integration needs. The Data Modeler will contribute to the overall data models and define principles, designs, and models that drive information sharing across the enterprise.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Working with business subject matter experts and IT groups to document data attributes and requirements.
Understanding and translating business needs into data models which support long term solutions.
Creating logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.
Documenting logical and physical mapping definitions, data lineage and ETL requirements.
Identify opportunities for standardizing data dictionaries, integration and archiving, and elimination of unnecessary redundancy.
Help define robust design methodology, development process methodology and best practices.
Utilize understanding of industry information management trends to innovate and provide new project/product ideas within the investment lifecycle
Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.
Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.
Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.
Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.
Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems.
Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure PaaS (or similar cloud platforms), IaaS and related data and integration services
Experience using Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, PowerBI, and PowerApps
Experience designing and implementing information models in a clinical research organization (CRO) or related industry.
Knowledge of clinical industry data standards such as CDISC ODM, SDTM, ADaM and BRIDG.
Knowledge and Experience:
A minimum of 3+ years of experience with data warehouse development, with at least 1 year creating logical and physical dimensional, relational and hierarchical data models.
Experience modeling financial data.
Experience modeling clinical data.
Experience using ER/Studio, Oracle, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, and Qlik Compose or other Data Warehouse Automation tools.
