This position may be located in Arlington, VA (Headquarters), Washington D.C., Pentagon, Springfield, VA., Chantilly, VA., Tysons Corner, VA.

Position-Specific Overview

Analysts will lead the design and rollout of a modern data-governance program for a federal client. You will build governance structures, define standards, and drive adoption across business and technical teams, positioning data as a trusted enterprise asset that meets security, compliance, and modernization goals. The successful candidate will be a strong facilitator and change agent who can navigate complex stakeholder environments, translate competing perspectives into practical governance decisions, and progressively mature governance capabilities, processes, and supporting technologies.

Responsibilities

Governance Framework & Compliance

  • Design and mature a data-governance operating model (objectives, decision rights, accountability, standards).
  • Conduct current-state assessments; identify gaps, barriers, and improvement opportunities.
  • Convene and facilitate governance councils, working groups, and stewardship forums (charters, cadence, decision logs).
  • Develop, adopt, and continuously improve data-management policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Measure adoption/effectiveness; report metrics and recommend corrective actions.
  • Align federal frameworks (Evidence Act, Federal Data Strategy, FAIR, DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) with client-specific needs.

Metadata, Catalog & Tool Enablement

  • Translate governance best practices into reusable templates, standards, and assets.
  • Define requirements for metadata, lineage, business glossary, and data catalogs; evaluate tools such as Collibra, Microsoft?Purview, Alation, or Informatica and plan phased tool implementation
  • Produce enterprise data inventories, dictionaries, critical-data element registers, and stewardship records that serve as interim assets and guide future tooling.

Stewardship & Issue Resolution

  • Lead cross-functional workshops to align governance objectives with mission outcomes.
  • Build consensus among stakeholders with differing priorities, organizational perspectives, and levels of data-management maturity
  • Establish and publish RACI matrices and stewardship roles (executive sponsor, data owners, stewards, custodians).
  • Create decision-making and issue-adjudication processes (intake forms, escalation paths, approval workflows).
  • Coach data owners and stewards, embedding governance into everyday project and business workflows.

Training, Documentation & Change Management

  • Deliver training and coaching on governance principles, roles, and tools to all stakeholder levels.
  • Maintain a knowledge hub (SharePoint/wiki) for policies, FAQs, and how-to guides.
  • Run change-management campaigns (communications, success stories) to drive adoption.
  • Define and monitor KPIs (metadata completeness, data-quality improvement, standards implementation, reuse).

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years in data governance, data management, or enterprise data strategy; proven experience establishing/governing data-governance councils or working groups.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Federal data laws and mandates (Evidence?Act, Federal Data Strategy, FAIR); data-catalog, lineage, quality, and governance technology concepts.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; ability to work cross-functionally with senior leaders and technical teams.
  • U.S. citizen; eligible for a Secret-level government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience leading complex data-governance engagements in a consulting or client-services setting.
  • Prior work with U.S. federal agencies and active Secret clearance.
  • CDMP (Practitioner or Master) certification.
  • Proven track record building/transforming data governance programs.
  • Expertise in change-management, stakeholder engagement, and consensus-building within data-governance initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience selecting and implementing enterprise governance platforms (Collibra, Alation, Microsoft?Purview, Informatica, etc.) and developing reusable assets (charters, roadmaps, RACI matrices, data-quality frameworks).

Salary range: $105,000- 200,000 USD

The salary range listed is one part of our total compensation package, which may also include bonuses, incentives and benefits. Individual compensation is determined based on qualifications such as relevant years of experience, education, certifications and geographic location.
