About the Role

We’re looking for a senior data engineer to build and scale the data infrastructure powering our AI products that solve real-world problems serving middle America. As part of the engineering team at UpSmith, you’ll get the chance to own data pipelines and infrastructure and user-facing reporting solutions end-to-end, enabled by our core values of being an owner, winning with speed, and acting with courage.


Requirements
  • Belief in the dignity of work and our mission to tackle U.S. skilled workforce shortages

  • 4+ years of industry experience in data engineering

  • Developed, scaled and monitored data pipelines for ingestion, enrichment and storage

  • Deployed, managed and optimized machine learning models in production is a plus

  • Proficiency in Python and distributed data processing solutions (AWS Redshift, dbt, Snowflake)

  • Experience in data modeling and query optimization in SQL and NoSQL

  • Able to navigate ambiguity with little coaching, prizing action over inaction

  • Comfortable operating with both an “in the clouds” and “in the weeds” mindset

  • Adaptable, with understanding that software development is a team sport

  • Willingness to mentor and be a coach

Compensation
  • Competitive cash ($170-$200K base) and equity (18-36 BPS)
