As a Data Engineer at Vocal Media, you’ll play a critical role in building the data infrastructure and tools that both help us measure the impact of our campaigns and organize our internal data to set our team up for success. You’ll design and maintain data pipelines, help build out our internal data tracking of clients and programs, help create and maintain documentation of our workflows and work closely with analyst team to ensure data quality and accuracy. This is an excellent opportunity for a early-career professional who is interested in using their technical skills to have an impact, and is passionate about digital culture. This position is fully remote.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows to ingest, transform, and deliver data across multiple systems. Ensure pipelines are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
- Design schemas, dbt models, and database structures optimized for dashboards and analysis.
- Maintain a thorough, meticulously documented, and tested codebase that can be scaled across large datasets.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, or a comparable background with strong coding skills and an interest in transitioning into data engineering
- Experience working with large datasets collected from disparate data sources and optimizing ETL processes
- Experience writing and maintaining documentation on data systems
- Fluency in python and SQL (BigQuery)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using GCP, Cloud Run, and Docker for containerization and orchestration
- Experience using dbt
- Experience integrating third-party API’s into workflows to collect data
- Experience maintaining Airtables
- Expereince building and maintaining webhooks
- Experience working with political campaigns or social media marketing, and/or a passion for progressive causes
