What is this role?
As a Data Engineer at Cirkul, you will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to help build data pipelines, improve performance, and ensure data quality. What does an average day look like?
Driving Results:
- Assist with building and maintaining the infrastructure for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources using tools like SQL, Python, and AWS technologies.
- Help implement and optimize data pipelines for reliable data delivery.
Taking Ownership:
- Contribute to automating processes and improving data workflow efficiency.
- Help ensure that data pipelines run smoothly and monitor their performance.
Making Decisions:
- Support the creation and maintenance of efficient data pipeline architectures.
Cultivating Relationships:
- Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to address data-related issues and offer technical support.
Instilling Trust:
- Assist in optimizing data processes to make them faster and more scalable.
- Help identify improvements to current infrastructure and suggest process enhancements.
Customer Focus:
- Work on managing data platform configurations in the Cloud to ensure uptime and reliability.
What background should you have?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in data engineering or a related role, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including query optimization and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (i.e., AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
- Experience with programming languages (Python preferred)
- Exposure to ETL tools or frameworks (i.e. Apache Airflow, Luigi, or similar)
- Familiarity with data integration methods, such as using APIs for data ingestion.
- Knowledge of modern data platforms or warehouses (i.e. Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery is a plus.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
