Job Description
Data and Analytics plays a transformational role in how we create value today and how we shape our future. We have a bold ambition to be a world-class data and analytics business for our customers across all our regions and business functions.
This is a hands-on engineering role that will report to the Director of Data & AI in our CILA Data & AI function. You will support cross-functional teams by building and maintaining data infrastructure that enables efficient analysis and insights generation. The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain robust data pipelines and systems that serve our diverse data consumers across the business spanning our brands in Canada, Iberia, and Latin America. By leveraging your data engineering skills, you'll enable data-driven decision making throughout the organization, supporting business growth and operational excellence.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Demonstrates problem-solving persistence when faced with complex data integration challenges
- Communicates technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Takes initiative to improve data pipeline efficiency and identify process optimizations
- Remains adaptable when priorities shift, maintaining focus on data quality and delivery timelines
- Shows curiosity about emerging data technologies and applies relevant learnings to current work
- Balances independent work with effective team collaboration, especially across technical functions
- Takes ownership of assigned data projects from planning through implementation
- Actively contributes to code reviews with constructive, solution-oriented feedback
- Sets, achieves and is motivated by goals
- Able to collaborate and work well with others
Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 3-4 years of hands-on experience in data engineering roles
- Proficiency in SQL and Python programming for data manipulation and pipeline development
- Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or equivalent cloud data warehousing platforms
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
- Experience with modern data pipeline tools such as DBT, Airflow, or Composer
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices for analytics
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources
- Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
Desired:
- Experience in the Gambling/Gaming sector
- Experience with containerization tools like Docker
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices
- Understanding of how genAI models can be used in data engineering
- Experience with real-time data processing
Basic understanding of machine learning workflows and how data engineering supports them
