Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Data Ingestion and Modeling:
Collect and integrate data from various sources to feed into Dataviz systems (Microstrategy), Data Science, Analytics, or for sharing externally. Model data using dbt to meet the needs of analysts, data scientists, and various departments. Ensure the quality of data.
• Migration to On-Premise Solution:
Contribute to migrating data infrastructure to on-premise solutions, particularly implementing Trino, dbt, and Iceberg Metastore.
• Data Governance and Quality:
Participate in developing and implementing data contracts and data governance policies to ensure data quality and compliance.
• Coordination and Collaboration:
Work closely with data platform engineers to identify and define new features to add to our data platform. Collaborate with data science teams to help them find the right data needed to build Veepee’s state-of-the-art machine learning models. Translate business requirements and processes into well-thought-out data models and KPIs to make information accessible and meaningful for business users.
• Continuous Improvement:
Apply software engineering principles to analytics code, in the true DataOps spirit. Develop and implement methods to continuously improve the quality of data in our data warehouse. This includes auditing sources, documenting issues, driving resolutions together with other teams, and implementing well-documented, performant, and tested transformations

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding and empathy for business users and their data needs
• Advanced skills in writing complex and performant SQL statements
• Minimum 3 years of experience using analytics databases (preferably cloud-based like BigQuery, Snowflake..)
• Minimum 2 years of data modeling experience (Kimball, Data Vault, etc.)
• Experience with modern data stack tools (we use dbt,BigQuery,Cloud Dataflow,Pub/Sub, Airflow, git(lab), Trino, Iceberg Metastore,Microstrategy).
• Not afraid to get your hands dirty on the command line.
• Some experience with a programming language like Python or Java  is a plus.
• Project management experience is a plus.
