Thousands of engineers globally are shaping this platform, and our Prague tech hub is a key part of that effort. But we don’t just keep the engine running—we push the tech boundaries of what’s possible, alongside teams from Lisbon, London, and New York. Here in Prague, we have teams specializing in frontend development (including mobile, TV, and web), backend development (Java), DevOps & Platform Engineering, AWS, and data science.
What is the plot?
Millions of customers use our apps, and we have always been looking to understand their preferences and behaviors, so we can keep pushing our products forward and provide a service our customers would love.
What role will you play?
You will be part of a team of data engineers responsible for maintenance and development of our data pipelines and cloud-based database. Your efforts will enable our data consumers, such as product analysts and marketing analysts or ML engineers, to improve our streaming offering.
Your daily tasks:

You will develop SQL transformations of our data in BigQuery. Often, you will collaborate with fellow data engineers in the London office and, from time to time, with our colleagues in USA.

Checking the stability and robustness of our data pipelines, developing tests, changing structure and flows in our database.

Performing data backfills and replays in case of changes of the database structure.

Processing Big Data in Google Cloud: sometimes in the form of BigQuery tables, sometimes consuming from Kafka and putting it in Google's PubSub or Delta Lake, sometimes even in the form of unstructured data in JSONs, AVROs, and alike.
What skills do you need to play your role well?

Expertise in designing and developing complex data models, distributed data pipelines using big data technologies on large scale data sets.

Experience in cloud based ETL environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

Analysis across large scale data warehousing projects.

Strong SQL

Fluent English

Great communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to cooperate with global teams

Skills or experience in DBT and Jinja, BigQuery, big data, Python, or data visualization tools like Looker and Tableau would be an advantage.
