Data Engineer – Position Description
 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Develop and optimize data architectures for access, analytics and reporting.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance aligned with industry best practices.
• Consult with development teams to determine appropriate storage solutions for software development efforts, optimizing for cost, latency, and integration.
• Create end-to-end data pipelines to support model creation, data warehousing, real-time analytics, and machine learning.
• Implement data governance strategies, including data catalog creation, structuring data zones, process orchestration, monitoring, and alerting.
• Automate data workflows and improve data quality processes.
• Manage and optimize databases and cloud-based data platforms.
• Troubleshoot data-related issues and optimize system performance.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and business teams to understand data needs.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Relevant technical certifications are preferred.

• 10+ years of experience in data environments including data engineering or architecture.
• Experience with orchestration tools like AirFlow, Dagster, Prefect, Azure Synapse, or equivalent.
• Expertise in data ingestion and transformation tools such as SQL, Python, Spark, dbt, or equivalent.
• Experience developing solutions for cloud, hybrid, and on-premise and the ability to adapt to various customer infrastructures. Strong knowledge of ETL tools, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
• Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
• Self-motivated and proactive in seeking clarity and developing effective solutions.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to design and implement scalable data solutions.
• Proficiency in data modeling and database management.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
