Job Description

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our technology team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and optimising data platforms, pipelines and integrations that support business intelligence, analytics, reporting and operational processes.
You will play an important role in building scalable, reliable and future-fit data solutions, working closely with business stakeholders, software engineers and data consumers to turn business needs into effective technical solutions.

What You’ll Be Trusted With

Data Engineering & Solution Delivery

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Build and optimise data models, databases and data integration solutions.
  • Develop data solutions that support reporting, analytics, machine learning and operational requirements.
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of cloud-based data platforms.

Data Quality & Reliability

  • Implement data quality, validation and monitoring frameworks to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Optimise database performance and troubleshoot data-related issues.
  • Take ownership of the quality, stability and performance of data solutions.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into practical, buildable technical solutions.
  • Partner with software engineers and data consumers to ensure solutions meet business needs and deliver meaningful value.
  • Communicate openly and clearly, building trusted relationships across technical and business teams.

Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Support deployment, testing and maintenance through CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data platforms, processes and ways of working.
  • Stay curious about emerging technologies and continuously build your technical capability.
  • Document technical solutions, standards and processes to support consistency and knowledge sharing.

Team Contribution

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to building technical capability within the engineering team.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with colleagues to solve problems and achieve shared outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of constructive challenge, learning and continuous improvement.

Who you are

You are a technically strong and curious Data Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and building reliable solutions. You are comfortable working across technical and business environments and take ownership of delivering quality outcomes.

You bring:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 4–8 years' experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical role.
  • Proven experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and relational database design principles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and C# and/or Python development.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms and software development principles, including Set Theory and SOLID.
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling and data architecture.
  • Experience with data visualisation and reporting platforms would be advantageous.
  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate certification, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
  • Experience within financial services, asset management or investment environments would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to machine learning, advanced analytics or big data technologies would be advantageous.
