As a Data Engineer Manager at Second Foundation, you will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the scalable data foundations that power our advanced trading strategies. You will combine technical leadership with hands-on engineering, ensuring that our data systems are scalable, reliable, and optimized for high-performance analytics. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on ownership, is passionate about data-centric architectures, and is driven to shape the future of large-scale data processing in a fast-paced trading environment.
What you would work on?
- Take ownership of team objectives, setting the technical direction, and driving technical excellence.
- Stay hands-on with significant code contribution while ensuring high code quality and performance across all owned projects.
- Analyze, distribute and delegate subtasks to the team.
- Conduct initial investigation of production issues affecting data pipelines or systems before handing them over to engineers for deeper debugging.
- Track, manage, and address technical debt while championing architectural improvements and innovation.
- Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders, including quant researchers, traders, and engineering teams, to ensure data solutions meet business needs.
- Maintain visibility into team members’ workstreams, intervening when necessary to remove blockers or realign priorities.
- Participate in hiring interviews and support the growth of the team.
