Role Summary
The Senior Big Data Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, operating, and optimizing the bank’s big data platforms and data processing pipelines to ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security. This role provides technical leadership for data platform operations, supports analytics and regulatory workloads, and ensures data platforms operate reliably in a regulated Virtual Bank environment.
What You’ll Do
- Design, operate, and maintain big data platforms supporting banking, analytics, and reporting workloads.
- Ensure availability, performance tuning, and capacity planning of data platforms and data pipelines.
- Implement and maintain data ingestion, processing, and streaming platforms.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery for big data platforms.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for data platform components.
- Ensure data platform security controls, access management, and encryption are properly enforced.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for data platform–related issues.
- Collaborate with Application, Cloud, DBA, and Security teams to support platform integration and stability.
- Review and improve operational procedures, standards, and runbooks.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to data platform best practices.
- Support audits, regulatory reporting requirements, and operational reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum5–7 years of experience in big data platform engineering or data operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, data lakes).
- Experience operating data platforms in production environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP is a plus).
- Good understanding of data security, access control, and operational controls.
- Experience supporting 24x7 production systemsor regulated environments is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
- Good command of English (reading, writing, and speaking); ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in English with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
