Job Description

In your role as Data Compliance Counsel (m/f/d), you are part of the central Data Compliance function and act as a contact person for organizational data protection and data protection law across the EMEA region. Alongside operational coverage of the EMEA region, you contribute to group-wide data compliance methodology, standards and frameworks. You support ContiTech in complying with the GDPR, the national data protection laws of the relevant EMEA jurisdictions, the Binding Corporate Rules and further applicable data protection requirements. You are deployed as an EMEA-wide generalist; the regional allocation is not fixed to a single sub-region and may be reassigned as our regional set-up evolves. Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Contributing, as part of the central Data Compliance function, to the development and maintenance of group-wide data compliance methodology, standards and frameworks, and supporting their consistent application across the EMEA region.
  • Advising departments and subsidiaries across EMEA on data protection matters
  • Independently reviewing and documenting data protection enquiries and processing activities (RoPA)
  • Reviewing data processing on behalf of controllers and data processing agreements, and advising on the relevant legal requirements, including cross-border data transfers
  • Identifying, assessing and prioritizing data protection risks (by impact and likelihood) and driving continuous improvement
  • Supporting prevention, monitoring, reporting and investigation of data protection incidents and breaches, including notification where required
  • Supporting audits and conducting data protection reviews
  • Developing and delivering data protection training for employees and management
  • Co-creating and maintaining policies, manuals, standards and processes together with internal teams
  • Continuously monitoring data protection laws, trends and developments across EMEA
  • Supporting projects, global initiatives and the ongoing digitization of the function

Qualifications

  • University degree in law (including degrees recognized under applicable equivalence frameworks) or a degree in IT / Information Systems with profound data protection knowledge; an additional qualification or certification in data protection (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM) is a strong advantage
  • Several years of professional experience in European and national data protection law; experience in international data protection projects
  • Strong interest in forward-looking topics such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required; German and/or further EMEA languages are an advantage
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, proactive and structured way of working
  • High commitment, confident appearance, and strong team skills
  • Willingness to travel

Skills Required
