First San Francisco Partners (FSFP) is a leading business advisory and information management consultancy dedicated to helping organizations leverage their data to improve strategic decision-making, reduce risk, create operational efficiencies and fuel unprecedented business success. Our consulting services include data management, data governance, Collibra (data governance and data quality software) implementation/adoption, data architecture, data quality, master and reference data management, metadata management and data privacy.

Kelle O’Neal founded the company in 2007 and is its Chief Executive Officer. FSFP’s leading position and strong reputation in our industry is because of our experienced senior leaders and dedicated consultants, business analysts and sales, administrative and marketing staff.

FSFP serves clients throughout the U.S., including large consumer brands, notable financial institutions and other organizations who want to make their information (data) actionable.

FSFP’s culture is centered on teamwork and a shared passion for what we do. We believe in treating clients (and one another) with respect and delivering measurable results for clients. Our FIRST values (Focus, Integrity, Resourcefulness, Skillfulness and Teamwork) guide our interactions.

The Data and Information Architect is a client-facing lead responsible for shaping enterprise data and information architectures that align to business strategy and accelerate adoption of data governance, master and reference data, metadata, and data quality capabilities. This person blends architecture rigor with consulting judgment: they design extensible target-state architectures, translate business needs into pragmatic implementation roadmaps, and partner with stakeholders across business and IT to deliver outcomes that stick.

The ideal candidate has progressed through roles such as data analyst, data modeler, data steward, and architect. That breadth lets them connect strategy, design, and execution rather than treat them as separate workstreams. They are equally comfortable advising executives on a roadmap and sitting with a development team to validate a logical model or review a metadata asset model.

Domain Expertise
  • Data Architecture and Modeling: Develops and maintains enterprise high-level data models and targeted subject area models at the conceptual, logical, and physical levels. Captures data requirements from business strategies and data initiatives, designs for current and future state, and reviews physical implementations against enterprise data requirements. Maintains an expert understanding of cloud, hybrid, and on-premise storage patterns, including the security, access, and performance implications of each.
  • Information Architecture: Designs the structures that make information findable, usable, and trustworthy. Defines business glossaries, taxonomies, reference data structures, and asset models that anchor the meaning of data across the organization. Aligns information architecture with content, search, and analytics needs so that downstream consumers can locate and interpret data without having to reverse-engineer it.
  • Data Governance and Metadata Management: Designs and implements enterprise data governance and metadata management solutions. Translates business and technical requirements into Collibra (or comparable platform) configurations, including operating models, asset models, workflows, and stewardship processes. Develops metagovernance recommendations, designs automated metadata import and export methods, and recommends curation processes for high-quality content.
  • Master and Reference Data Management: Familiar with industry-standard MDM and RDM patterns and able to advise on implementation styles (registry, centralized, co-existence, hybrid) based on use case fit. Integrates MDM into the broader data architecture through APIs, batch, or streaming, and aligns match/merge, hierarchy, and stewardship workflows with the governance operating model.
  • Data Quality and Lineage: Assesses and improves data quality through profiling, rule definition, and ongoing monitoring. Implements lineage capture so that data flow from source to consumption is visible and explainable. Recommends and configures capabilities for business and technical metadata, data lineage, data profiling, and issue or request management.
  • Regulatory and Privacy Awareness: Maintains a working understanding of major data-related regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and equivalents) and how they shape architecture decisions, classification schemes, access controls, and retention design.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead data and information architecture engagements end to end, including strategy, design, implementation oversight, education, standards creation, and ongoing measurement.
  • Conduct workshops and interviews with business and IT stakeholders to assess current-state maturity, identify pain points, and shape a future-state roadmap.
  • Identify, document, and prioritize use cases that drive the strategy and roadmap, and translate them into target-state designs.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models, asset models, and architecture patterns for data layers, data stores, integration, and provisioning.
  • Configure and oversee implementation of data governance and metadata platforms (e.g., Collibra), including operating model alignment, workflow design, and bulk metadata loads.
  • Perform architecture and technology gap analyses, recommend solutions, and produce implementation roadmaps that move clients toward future state.
  • Ensure documentation for models, architectures, and standards is accurate, well organized, and curated for ongoing use.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, use case documentation, and implementation specifications that support adoption beyond the engagement.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging practices, including data mesh, data fabric, semantic layers, and AI-supported governance.
Technical Skills and Tools
  • Data Catalog and Governance Platforms: Hands-on expertise with metadata tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica CDGC, Microsoft Purview, or Unity Catalog.
  • Data Modeling Tools: Proficiency with enterprise data modeling tools (e.g., erwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or equivalents) and the ability to produce conceptual, logical, and physical models that hold up under review.
  • Cloud Data Platforms: Familiarity with modern cloud data ecosystems, including Databricks and Unity Catalog, Snowflake, and major hyperscaler data services. Understands how governance policies (access controls, classifications, lineage) apply within those environments.
  • MDM and RDM Tools: Practical experience with at least one MDM platform (e.g., Informatica MDM, Reltio, Profisee, or Semarchy). Understands match/merge configuration, hierarchy management, and steward workflows.
  • Data Quality and Lineage: Experience with data quality tools (e.g., Informatica Data Quality, Collibra Data Quality, Ataccama) and lineage or observability capabilities, whether tool-driven or implemented through metadata integration.
  • SQL and Databases: Strong SQL skills and a solid grasp of relational database design. Comfortable working across platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, and cloud-native equivalents.
  • AI and Automation: Uses modern AI assistants thoughtfully to speed up design and delivery work.
