We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect with 12+ years of experience in designing and implementing scalable data solutions in Azure environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in data transformation logic, Azure Data Factory, Databricks optimization, and performance engineering. This role demands strategic thinking, architectural leadership, and hands-on technical depth.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design end-to-end data platforms leveraging Azure technologies.
- Interpret complex data transformation logic written in T-SQL and translate it into optimized processes within Azure Databricks (PySpark/SQL).
- Design, build, and oversee data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) from source systems to RAW layer.
- Establish scalable data lake and lakehouse architecture patterns.
- Collect, monitor, and analyze performance metrics to optimize ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Perform advanced performance tuning and optimization of Databricks read/write operations.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of data solutions.
- Define and implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
- Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to data engineers and junior architects.
- Drive technical decision-making and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Skills & Expertise
- 12+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
- Strong expertise in:
- T-SQL and complex data transformation logic interpretation.
- Azure Databricks (Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake).
- Azure Data Factory (ADF) – end-to-end ingestion pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience in performance optimization of Databricks read/write queries.
- Experience analyzing pipeline performance metrics and implementing improvements.
- Strong understanding of data modeling (OLTP, OLAP, Dimensional Modeling).
- Experience designing data lake/lakehouse architectures.
- Familiarity with Azure ecosystem (ADLS Gen2, Synapse, Azure SQL, etc.).
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data platforms.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
- Proven ability to mentor and guide data engineering teams.
