As a pivotal figure in today’s data-driven enterprise, the Data Architect will shape and govern the organisation’s end-to-end data landscape: on‑premises and in the cloud. Tasked with translating complex business needs into secure, scalable and high‑performing data solutions, you will define architecture frameworks, model data, automate processes and guide stakeholders through evolving data strategies.
This role not only demands deep technical expertise (from designing pipelines and repositories to embedding robust security) but also the influence to uplift our team and internal practices.
Please note this role operates in a hybrid model with candidates expected to be able and willing to work from our customer's Dublin office at least once per week.
Required skills:
- Experience in designing and implementing on premise and in Cloud data solutions
- Experience with data security
- Excellent data modelling experience
- Top notch stakeholder management skills
Key responsibilities & duties include:
- Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
- Look for and enhance our internal procedures. Make our infrastructure able to support more growth. Improve how we deliver data. Automate tasks that are currently done by hand.
- Creating technical plans from business needs. This involves managing data flow, connecting systems, updating data, and designing databases and storage systems.
- Defining the data architecture framework, standards and principles, including modelling, metadata, security, reference data and master data
- Defining reference architecture, which is a pattern others can follow to create and improve data systems
- Defining data flows, i.e., which parts of the organisation generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed and how data changes in transition
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple departments, stakeholders, partners and external vendors
Desirable skills:
- Experience in a large enterprise data warehouse
- Ability to build and optimise data sets, ‘big data’ pipelines and architectures
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions
- Excellent analytical skills associated with working on unstructured datasets
- Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependencies and metadata
- Knowledge of ODBC and Java
- Experience with Data warehousing, Cubes and emerging EPP/MPP data designs
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS Data system preferable
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, Big Data Specialist, Tableau Professional or other similar certifications desired
- Act as an influencer to help the existing team grow into modern modelling and reporting methodologies
