As a Data Architect II for Hagerty, you will join a world-class, high-functioning team to design and deliver novel IP by leveraging data as a strategic asset. You will architect and scale Hagerty’s Member Cross Journey Experience (XJE) including member interaction master data to provide data products that support Hagerty’s reimagining of the member journey as well as reporting and analytics needs in that domain. Using industry-leading tools and an internally engineered system, Hagerty’s Data Factory platform includes data processing & data warehousing, services, and APIs.
In this role, you are responsible for guiding decisions, influencing vision, and supporting the ongoing scaling of Hagerty’s XJE and Member Interaction Master Data.
What you’ll do
- Elicit, Analyze and Clarify Business Requirements helping turn those into technical requirements for data and master data rules.
- Develop, Maintain, and implement a comprehensive XJE Data Model, Data Mapping and Non-Functional Requirements to ensure consistent and accurate member journey data usage across all Hagerty platforms and systems.
- Provide architecture expertise to help recommend / guide the implementation of a solution built to allow robust data products that will support both operational and analytic and AI/ML products.
- Engage with business stakeholders and data stewards to facilitate decision-making processes and foster a deeper understanding of data.
- Drive innovation in data architecture, fostering the creation of novel intellectual property, ensuring differentiation from Hagerty’s competitors, and impacting business growth and resiliency.

- A bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of increasingly responsible experience as a Data Architect particularly in the insurance space. Experience with customer / member interaction data would be particularly helpful.
- Experience with design, modeling, and requirements development for Master Data Domains.
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
- Experience analyzing large data sets from diverse domains.
- Experience in modeling ontologies and taxonomies
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
- Understanding of predictive modeling, NLP and text analysis, Machine Learning

Other things to note
- This position is open to U.S. remote work. However, team members who reside within 20 miles of the Traverse City headquarters will follow a hybrid schedule, working from the office three days per week.

For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
