The Internal Audit & SOX (IAS) department has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Analytics Manager on the Analytics & Automation team. This role leads a team of data analysts responsible for advancing the use of data, analytics, and automation to enhance audit assurance, increase efficiency, and deliver meaningful risk insights that protect Vanguard’s investors.
As a member of the leadership team, this role blends people leadership, analytics strategy, and cross-functional partnership. You will work closely with Internal Audit, SOX, Embedded Data Analysts, and enterprise data and technology partners to translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions, operationalize analytics across the audit lifecycle, and continuously improve team capabilities, tools, and outcomes. The role is ideal for a leader passionate about developing talent, strengthening analytics adoption, and driving innovation within a dynamic audit environment.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew. Provide guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Lead and develop a team of data analysts to partner with IAS stakeholders, translating business questions into structured analytical approaches and ensuring successful delivery of a portfolio of data analytics initiatives.
- Oversee the development and delivery of analytical insights, guiding the team to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations aligned to stakeholder objectives. Provide expert consulting to create recommendations that incorporate an understanding of both their stakeholders’ operational goals and the analytics skills, tools, data and processes to achieve them.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate operational and performance metrics; use insights to enhance processes, workflows, and overall effectiveness of analytics delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to enable collaboration across audit, SOX, and enterprise data and technology teams, supporting the execution of analytics initiatives and resolution of issues.
- Contribute to department strategy, including short- and long-term planning, resource alignment, and execution of initiatives that advance analytics adoption and audit effectiveness.
- Support continuous development of team capabilities to advance analytics skillsets, promote innovation, and stay current on emerging tools and practices.
- Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required; professional certification (e.g., CIA, CISSP, CISA, PMP, or similar) or advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in data analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, automation, software development, data engineering, technology operations, or related risk, controls, audit, and compliance disciplines.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, with a strong track record of hiring, developing, and retaining talent in a high-performing, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment with strong inherent project execution skills, including: prioritizing tasks, balancing workload between multiple projects, anticipating next steps, adapting to changing situations and project scope; ability to work well under deadline pressure.
- Solid understanding of data and technology concepts (e.g., data management, automation, cloud, or emerging technologies) and their application within audit or risk contexts.
- Sound decision making and problem-solving ability to apply analysis, experience, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills; team focused mindset.
