Role profile:

We are seeking a high-calibre Investment Planning Director to join the Data & Analytics Transformation team, reporting directly to the Head of D&A Transformation. A team that thrives on a product-led mindset, embraces the future of AI, and remains relentlessly focused on putting the customer first. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with regular exposure to the D&A Executive Leadership Team and Group senior stakeholders, including the CEO. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and governing the investment agenda across the D&A division, ensuring capital is deployed effectively to drive growth, innovation, and resilience.

This role is ideally suited to an engagement manager / principal from a top-tier consulting firm or similar industry transformation role looking to transition into a blue-chip corporate environment, while maintaining strategic exposure and accelerating their leadership trajectory.

Investment Strategy & Planning

  • Partner with senior D&A leadership to translate strategic priorities into a clear, actionable investment roadmap.

  • Lead the end-to-end investment planning process, including business case development, prioritisation, and capital allocation across a multi-hundred-million-pound portfolio.

  • Ensure alignment between investment decisions and D&A’s growth, innovation, and risk management objectives.

Portfolio Prioritisation & Governance

  • Design and run robust portfolio prioritisation frameworks to optimise return on investment and strategic impact.

  • Establish and maintain best-in-class investment governance, ensuring transparency, consistency, and executive-level clarity.

  • Provide high-quality materials and insights to support decision-making at Executive Committee and Board-level forums.

Performance Management & Insights

  • Track and evaluate portfolio performance, ensuring delivery against financial targets, strategic outcomes, and milestones.

  • Develop clear, insightful reporting and dashboards to enable proactive management of investment trade-offs and risks.

  • Identify opportunities to reallocate capital dynamically in response to changing business priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Strategy.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to D&A leadership, bringing structured thinking, analytical rigour, and independent challenge.

  • Communicate complex analyses and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Problem Solving & Execution

  • Lead complex, ambiguous problem-solving efforts—structuring issues, synthesising data, and driving actionable recommendations.

  • Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities, and work collaboratively to resolve them at pace.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in investment planning processes and tools.

We are looking for an exceptional individual with high potential, who combines strategic thinking with execution excellence.

Experience

  • Background in a top-tier strategy consulting firm, ideally at engagement manager / principal level, or similar industry strategy / transformation role.
