Leads and manages the data, reporting, and analytical work in support of a Data Analytics area within the Risk Control organization. The successful candidate will lead a team of analytical professionals in establishing metrics, providing innovative data analyses, and partnering with department professionals to support their business intelligence needs. This candidate will be technically strong and will enhance our capabilities to make data-driven decisions and recommendations. This individual will collaborate with leadership and directs teams to assure strategic, operational and developmental goals of the organization are met.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Directs projects that involve the analysis of complex modeling for the purpose of Quantifying the performance of the business area and evaluating operational changes. Uses technical expertise to provide business insights and makes recommendations to Senior Management.
Interprets data and identifies relevant analyses. Monitors trends over time and provides actionable insights to determine actionable outcomes on a business area. Makes recommendations using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
Partners with department management to design complex dashboards using available data visualization tools and prepares reports for Senior Management.
Ensures overall alignment between goals and strategies of the teams with management and business partners.
Acts as a technical resource and regularly identifies opportunities to leverage new IT solutions in support of analytics and reporting objectives.
Works independently, receiving minimal guidance; acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience by providing guidance and mentorship.
Directs the work activities and may have full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction.
Responds to, manages and fulfills adhoc data requests.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Senior level knowledge of core functions of an insurance company and general insurance.
2. Excellent technical knowledge of financial, economical and statistical practices, procedures and principles, which may include a specialty area of the business.
3. Senior level interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Effectively interacts with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
4. Senior level analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills to effectively resolve complex situations and issues.
5. Senior level project management, organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and lead teams.
6. Ability to solve issues with a sense of urgency; utilizes and manages the available resources to make informed decisions and achieve superior results.
7. Ability to creatively and effectively manage through ambiguous and challenging problems, lead through change and take appropriate level of risk.
8. Strong technical skills and knowledge of programming languages. Knowledge of SQL, R, and/or Python preferred .
9. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems. Knowledge of Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Looker, or other data visualization software a plus.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
2. Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience. Minimum of two years of people management experience preferred.
