Description

Final is a world leader in trading algorithms and trade execution technologies. Our multi-disciplinary teams develop and operate a unique, highly successful machine-learning-based High Frequency Trading platform that trades in financial markets around the world.

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join Final and take an active role in understanding, monitoring and improving the performance of our trading systems.

This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary position combining data analysis, statistical research and performance monitoring. You will work with large and complex datasets generated by our production trading systems, investigate system behavior and performance, develop analyses and monitoring tools, and help identify problems and opportunities for improvement.

The role provides an opportunity to work closely with researchers, developers and operations teams and to have a direct and measurable impact on Final's trading performance.

In this role you will

  • Monitor and analyze the performance of Final's trading systems, identify unusual behavior, performance degradation and emerging trends, and investigate their underlying causes.
  • Perform in-depth analyses of trading activity and system behavior to understand what drives changes in performance.
  • Design and conduct statistical analyses and experiments to evaluate trading-system performance and assess the impact of algorithmic, configuration and infrastructure changes.
  • Develop monitoring methodologies, indicators and automated alerts that help identify meaningful issues while reducing noise and false alarms.
  • Analyze historical data to distinguish between normal variability and significant changes that require investigation.
  • Investigate complex production issues using data, formulate hypotheses, identify root causes and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Work with large and complex datasets and turn them into clear, actionable conclusions.
  • Develop analytical tools, metrics and datasets used by researchers and operational teams across the company.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines when needed to support research, monitoring and analytical needs.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, developers and other technical teams to investigate problems and improve Final's systems.
  • Take ownership of analytical problems end-to-end — from defining the question and obtaining the required data through analysis, conclusions and ongoing monitoring.
Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or another highly quantitative field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities and a solid understanding of statistics and statistical inference.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
  • Good programming skills in Python, including experience with data-analysis tools and libraries.
  • Ability to investigate complex systems, formulate hypotheses and use data to identify root causes.
  • Independent, curious and highly motivated, with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly and work effectively with researchers, developers and other stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and reliability.

Advantages

  • M.Sc. in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or another relevant quantitative field.
  • Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, regression analysis, time-series analysis or other applied statistical methodologies.
  • Experience developing monitoring systems, metrics, dashboards or automated anomaly detection.
  • Experience with large-scale analytical databases and data-processing systems.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Linux and production software environments.
  • Experience in a quantitative research, algorithmic trading or other data-intensive technology environment.
