Reporting to the Manager, Provider Services the Data Analyst III is responsible for playing a crucial role in ensuring accurate and efficient processing of billing data. This includes analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data related to healthcare billing transactions, identifying patterns, trends and anomalies, and providing actionable insights to optimize the overall billing process. This role requires proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, excellent communication skills and possess strong business acumen to collaborate with cross-functional teams and off-shore resources. The Data Analyst III will be tasked with optimizing billing workflows and improving operational efficiencies.

To be qualified for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Management, or equivalent Certifications)
  • 5+ years of related experience scripting and data manipulation languages such as SQL and Python
  • 5+ years of experience and proficiency in automating reporting and building visualizations and some administrative exposure in tools such as IBM Cognos, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Excel, or other related BI tools
  • Proficiency in relational databases; design, structure, data associations, and query language
  • Experience in conducting root cause analysis and recommend corrections to data issues reported by customers or exceptions reports
  • Experience in cross-examination of multiple data sources to provide actionable insights and feedback
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with management and team to enhance knowledge and lead project work with minimal direction. Maintains composure and professionalism in a fast-speed environment
  • Able to plan work, set clear direction, and coordinate own tasks in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Proficient at triaging issues, identifying data abnormalities, and debugging software
  • Capable of clearly presenting findings in oral, written, and graphical forms.
  • Flexible and able to embrace change

You will set yourself apart:

  • Experienced in manipulating and analyzing large-scale health administrative claims (Commercial, Medicare), billing, operational, customer service and click-stream data, knowledge of different dataset's limitations and strengths
  • Experience in healthcare industry data such as X12, CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10
  • Helpful to have experience with Zuora, Cognos, Data Warehouse, Informatica, and other ETL tools

You will be:

  • Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, including product management, business development, customer service, and offshore resources to define project scope, requirements, and timelines focused on the Clearinghouse Billing process
  • Performing in-depth analysis of healthcare billing data to identify discrepancies, errors, and opportunities for improvement
  • Developing Ad-hoc, Standard, Dashboards, Scorecards, and other reports using Power BI or other SQL-based reporting tools to monitor billing performance metrics
  • Working cross-functionally to ensure accurate configuration and processing of billing transactions through the Clearinghouse platform
  • Troubleshooting billing related issues and recommending corrective actions to enhance data accuracy and integrity
  • Documenting data analysis methodologies, findings, and recommendations in clear and concise reports
  • Conducting regular audits of billing data to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Performing complex data analysis across platforms using Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs).
  • Working with the ETL Developer to handle, clean, and merge data using ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) standards and methodologies
  • Ensuring data is mapped correctly to multiple business systems, department-level data marts, ODS, and/or Data Warehouse Identify problems and inaccuracies in databases and work with the business to troubleshoot and resolve data issues
  • Applying rules consistently to correct data problems, maintain documentation, and source code/scripts
  • Developing and maintaining protocols for how to handle, process, and clean data
  • Working with Data Steward document how data problems were identified and corrected
  • Supporting the workload and priorities of other Data Analysts and Data Engineers which includes CR's, Team Track tickets and ad hoc requests as needed
  • Developing and maintaining the workflow processes for all reporting requests
  • Applying statistical, predictive modeling, and/or data mining techniques to develop analytical solutions
  • Working with engineering teams to enhance data model, improve ETL methodologies, and optimize cloud computing performance
  • Applying business acumen to enhance data cleaning and curation methodologies to ensure accurate and reliable inputs to analysis and predictive modeling
  • Identifying data abnormalities and their root causes, suggest steps for mitigation, and liaise with data steward to develop long-term solutions
  • Assessing and explaining the impact of data and methodology changes on analysis results to technical and non-technical audience
