About Pursuit

Pursuit is a social impact organization building the future of economic mobility in the age of AI.

For over a decade, we've transformed lives through immersive training programs that propel adults from low-income backgrounds - often without college degrees - into high-growth tech careers. Our graduates have already generated nearly $1 billion in lifetime wage gains. We've also pioneered the Pursuit Bond, an innovative outcomes-based financing model that aligns investor returns with long-term economic mobility, allowing us to scale impact in a financially sustainable way.

Now, as AI reshapes every industry, Pursuit is evolving into an AI-native organization. We're training AI-native talent, embedding AI into our operations, and building scalable software to extend our impact. From grassroots partnerships to national policy, we're not just filling jobs - we're rethinking how economic opportunity works at scale.

About the Role

Pursuit is hiring a Data & Systems Manager to help shape how we use data and build infrastructure as an AI-native organization. This is a proactive, high-ownership role: you won't just keep systems running, you'll help define the data and governance foundation Pursuit needs to function as an AI Native org. You'll partner closely with our Head of AI Strategy & Transformation to turn messy, cross-functional problems into systems that scale — architecting how our CRM, data dictionary, and internal tools connect and grow as both people and AI depend on them. This role is ideal for someone with an early-to-mid-career data background who wants to help build the infrastructure layer of an AI-native organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own Pursuit's data infrastructure end-to-end — the semantic layer, data dictionary, and internal tools that make program outcomes, partner ecosystem, and network data usable across teams
  • Turn data into insight and action: build reporting, dashboards, and agentic capabilities that don't just show teams and leadership what happened, but help them decide what to do next
  • Enable teams to self-serve outcomes data — improve data availability, accuracy, completeness, and structure across systems so all Pursuit staff can pull the metrics they need to run the business without hitting a bottleneck
  • Partner with program, fundraising, and operations teams to design data structures (fields, statuses, pipelines) that actually reflect how they work
  • Shape data governance for an AI-native org — help define the standards, permissions, and structure that let AI agents, not just people, use Pursuit's data reliably
  • Pilot and evaluate new AI tools and workflows as they intersect with data and systems
  • Act as Pursuit's systems integrator: architect how our SaaS vendors and internal tools connect, and administer access, permissions, and workflows across them
About You
  • 3–5 years of experience working with data — analytics, data operations, business intelligence or similar
  • Strong technical foundations (SQL, spreadsheets/Excel, CRM systems like Salesforce) and excitement about working hands-on with AI tools — building custom Skills, using coding agents like Claude Code, working in GitHub — with eagerness to continue building new skills as AI evolves
  • A builder's mindset — you'd rather design a system that solves the problem for good than patch it every time it comes up
  • A track record of owning data completeness and accuracy at scale, with high standards and attention to detail
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects, including partnering with non-technical stakeholders to translate their needs into systems
  • Comfortable managing up and communicating clearly with leadership
  • Mission-Driven: You care deeply about equity, tech access, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities.
Pursuit offers:
  • An opportunity to work at the intersection of tech and social impact, and make a direct impact on the communities of those we serve.
  • Competitive compensation in base, plus bonus and a full benefits package
  • 401k Match
  • Unlimited PTO and an all-Pursuit summer break the last week of August and a week-long holiday the last week of December
  • Hybrid workspace: Tu - Th on site in Long Island City, Monday and Friday work from anywhere policy
  • Catered lunches once a week and delicious snacks
  • Dedicated time to build in AI and hone your AI skills
Salary:

The expected salary range for this role is $110-130k base.

The compensation above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.

Pursuit values diversity:

Our team has a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and we value the richness that diversity brings to our organization. We welcome new perspectives and affirm that all employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, ancestry, religion, national origin, age, familial or marital status, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender identity or expression, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law. Pursuit is an equal opportunity employer.

Skills Required

  • 3-5 years of experience working with data, analytics, data operations, business intelligence, or a similar field
  • Strong technical foundations in SQL, spreadsheets or Excel, and CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Hands-on experience or enthusiasm for working with AI tools, building custom Skills, using coding agents such as Claude Code, and working in GitHub
  • Builder’s mindset focused on designing durable systems rather than repeatedly patching problems
  • Track record of owning data completeness and accuracy at scale
  • High standards and strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and translating non-technical stakeholder needs into systems
  • Ability to manage up and communicate clearly with leadership
  • Commitment to equity, technology access, and expanding opportunity for underrepresented communities
