Introduction to the job
We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Group Team Lead to drive software quality strategies and lead a 5–10 people SQA team within our HMI D&E organization.
The position requires strong leadership experience, hands‑on software quality expertise, and solid communication skills to collaborate closely with teams in the US, the Netherlands, and Taiwan. This position follows a hybrid work model with 2 days WFH and 3 onsite days per week in the Hsinchu office.
Role and Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and grow a 5–10‑member SQA team, including performance coaching, development planning, and workload planning.
Align team priorities with D&E goals and drive execution across multiple software projects.
Foster a quality‑driven culture with a continuous improvement mindset.
Manage team performance processes, including performance reviews, goal setting, and ongoing feedback.
Conduct performance discussions with team members, including handling underperformance cases and driving Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) when needed.
Technical Leadership
Oversee software build, testing, release quality, documentation (Test Plan / Test Report / Release Note), and delivery readiness.
Review product quality risks, define test strategies, and ensure software meets release criteria.
Provide technical guidance in debugging, automation testing, and root‑cause analysis.
Lead the team’s transition from primarily manual testing toward increased automation, including framework selection, roadmap planning, and coaching team members.
Cross‑Site & Cross‑Function Collaboration
Communicate effectively with global teams, especially in regular meetings with US and Netherlands stakeholders.
Collaborate with RD, System Engineers, Architects, GLs, and Manufacturing teams to align on software quality standards.
Support internal and external customers with issue reproduction, troubleshooting, and quality improvements.
Travel
Up to 20%, mostly within Taiwan, with limited overseas travel.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of software‑related experience (software engineering, system integration, software testing, or related fields).
At least 2 years of hands‑on SQA experience, including test design, manual/automation execution, and issues handling.
At least 3 years of team leadership experience, managing 5-10 people or equivalent project leadership scope.
Hands‑on automation testing experience, with the ability to guide the team toward improved automation adoption.
Strong communication skills in English and Chinese; able to lead technical discussions with global teams.
Experience with software testing, debugging, build/release processes, documentation, and quality assurance workflows.
Ability to write clear test reports, SOPs, and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Cross‑country team collaboration experience (US / Netherlands / Asia teams).
1–2 years of RD / software development experience.
Hands‑on skills with C#, C/C++, or the ability to review code for testability considerations.
Familiarity with Windows OS, Linux command‑line, Linux environment setup, or Linux kernel build.
Experience with automation test case design and execution.
Knowledge of semiconductor equipment, processing flow, or industry practices.
Customer support experience in semiconductor or electronics industries.
Experience troubleshooting production tool issues or collaborating closely with factory users.
