Summary
Performs functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs in support of Video Systems and Local Office. Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, databases, utilities' software and/or software related to the video systems. Plans, conducts and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems. At higher level, may contribute to the development, testing, evaluation or design of system or infrastructure architecture used throughout the Video Systems and Local Office.
Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator defines, designs and administers network systems used for data communications and recommends improvements necessary to ensure operation of the company's high traffic, business critical internet production environment.
- Responsible for making sure that the company network always works.
- Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
- Proposes and implements network system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the network system.
- Applies capacity planning to business recommendations.
- First point of contact for performance analysis, scalability and service architecture/database administration issues.
- May be asked to coordinate equipment orders including terminals and cable installation, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing the database/systems.
- Approves action requests and specifies purchase requirement.
- Negotiates and places orders with common carriers.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is preferred.
Experience:
- 5 years of work experience; 2 years of related experience is required.
