Job Purpose:
The Business Process Specialist will provide leadership and assist customers by acting as the liaison between Financial Services IT Division delivery partners and the business unit in the general ledger space. The role's specific focus will be on the objectives and methods of the work processes and on approaches to implement changes to the work processes.
Description:
The role's responsibilities are to: respond to customer needs by interpreting business requirements into detailed function specifications and if necessary, for managing requests for changes to the specifications and document all findings and provide training where necessary. Additional responsibilities are listed below.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate process design changes by testing new software and integrating new systems or processes with existing ones;
  • Provide assistance to less experienced analysts to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work;
  • Team leader for development and support groups; provides programming and application/technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members;
  • Works directly with support team on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls;
  • Works independently on complex systems that may be used by one or more applications or systems;
  • Designs major system modules, programs or integrates infrastructure components based on requirements gathered from customers;
  • Reviews results of integrated testing performed by managed service team and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results;
  • Fully knowledgeable of the relevant programming languages, program design and specification development, programming logic, logic diagrams, system analysis techniques, testing, debugging, documentation standards, file design, storage and internal systems and cross platform infrastructure components; can provide training on these topics for others;
  • Oversees implementation and integration tasks for medium to large, complex in-house developed systems and/or purchased software solutions;
  • Assists customers with documentation, training and usability efforts;
  • Integrates processes across functional organizations;
  • Serves as a team member or project lead on one or more projects;


Basic Requirements:

  • Requires a relevant degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Six to ten years in systems development or support work.
  • Experience with programming language: ABAP
  • Experience with General Ledger in the following ERP tools: SAP and QAD
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Customer Focus
  • Problem-solving capabilities coupled with risk management understanding


Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Knowledge of Caterpillar policies, procedures, and controls
  • General understanding of Caterpillar's organization
  • Knowledge of ERP databases (DB2, SAP, Hana, QAD Progress)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems
  • Knowledge of general ledger, fixed asset, and legal entity closing systems
  • Knowledge of Project Management processes and tools

Location: East Peoria, Illinois
Relocation is not offered
5 to 15% of travel is expected
