These professional leverages experience with healthcare data standards, regulatory requirements (such as HIPAA), and payer-provider workflows to deliver robust and compliant data models. The Data Modeler ensures that data structures facilitate accurate claims processing, eligibility determination, and provider network management, enabling efficient and effective demand fulfillment in healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze business requirements and translate them into data modeling solutions.
Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for databases and data warehouses.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts, data architects, and developers, to ensure data models meet organizational needs.
Establish and maintain data standards, naming conventions, and data definitions.
Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Support data governance initiatives by ensuring data quality and consistency.
Document data models, metadata, and data flows for technical and non-technical audiences.
Identify and resolve data modeling issues, such as redundancy, inconsistency, or outdated structures.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data modeling.
Establish and monitor data quality rules investigate and resolve issues.
Coordinate stewardship processes with business owners and IT custodians.
Support data access standards and compliance documentation.
Required Skills
Experience with healthcare payer and provider data structures, including claims, eligibility, and provider data.
Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements like HIPAA and data privacy best practices.
Strong data modeling skills—conceptual, logical, and physical—with proficiency in data modeling tools and relational database management systems (RDBMS).
Ability to translate complex healthcare business needs into scalable, compliant data models.
Collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, including clinical, business, and IT stakeholders.
Analytical mindset for assessing current data architectures and identifying improvements for demand fulfillment processes.
