About the Role

As a Curator at HBA Art, you will develop thoughtful, visually compelling art collections for projects across hospitality, residential, mixed-use, wellness, lifestyle, and cultural sectors. Responding to client briefs, project budgets, and delivery timelines, you will lead research, sourcing, presentation building, and day-to-day project coordination across multiple live projects.

This is a visual, client-facing role with a strong emphasis on clear and persuasive presentation decks. You will translate research and curatorial concepts into confident visual narratives, presenting ideas clearly to clients, operators, designers, and internal teams.

Based in Singapore, you will work closely with HBA Art teams across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the US. You will support the growth of the Singapore studio through strong research, polished client presentations, organised project delivery, and contribution to wider business development opportunities. Occasional travel and attendance at industry events may be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Concept Development

  • Research artists, makers, materials, and cultural references to inform project-specific curatorial strategies.

  • Build and maintain a strong network of artists, galleries, fabricators, and suppliers.

  • Translate client briefs into curatorial narratives, mood boards, and visual concepts aligned with project goals and brand identity.

  • Support tenders, proposals, and pitches with relevant curatorial content and market insight.

Art Package Development, Presentations & Project Delivery

  • Develop curated art packages and presentation decks tailored to client, operator, designer, and project team audiences.

  • Build polished presentations using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, PowerPoint, or similar tools, with strong attention to layout, hierarchy, storytelling, and visual flow.

  • Present concepts and collections clearly and confidently, articulating curatorial rationale, materiality, budget considerations, and alignment with the design vision.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to align scope, timeline, budget, and procurement strategy.

  • Negotiate with artists and suppliers on pricing, editions, licensing, and production requirements.

  • Track curatorial budgets and contribute to cost control, reporting, and reconciliation.

  • Monitor samples, production progress, and final artwork quality, keeping stakeholders informed.

  • Prepare installation plans and, where required, support on-site installation and snagging.

  • Contribute to weekly and quarterly project reporting.

Industry Engagement & Collaboration

  • Represent HBA Art at art fairs, gallery openings, and industry events, building a credible and connected professional network.

  • Collaborate with global HBA Art teams to share resources, insights, and best practices across regions.

  • Maintain awareness of market trends, emerging artists, and new materials to inform future projects and proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: BA (minimum) in History of Art, Fine Art, Curatorial Studies, or a related field.

  • Right to Work: You would need to have the right to work in Singapore without visa sponsorship, i.e. Singaporean / Singapore PR.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in a curatorial, art consultancy, or gallery role with project-based responsibilities.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory; additional Asian languages are a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Curatorial Research: Strong knowledge of contemporary art, design, materials, and cultural references, with the ability to apply research to live project briefs.

  • Presentation Building: Excellent visual communication skills, with the ability to structure and refine high-quality decks using Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, or similar tools.

  • Client Presentation: Confident presenting ideas to clients and stakeholders, adapting tone, detail, and narrative to suit the audience.

  • Commercial Acumen: Experience negotiating with artists and suppliers, with a strong understanding of pricing structures, editions, and licensing.

  • Project Management: Able to manage multiple deliverables across timelines, budgets, approvals, production, and installation stages.

  • Supplier Relations: Established network of artists, galleries, and fabricators, with a track record of successful collaboration.

  • Team Collaboration: Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative, with a solutions-oriented mindset and a passion for working in multidisciplinary teams.
