Summary:

As a CT Technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered diagnostic imaging services. Leveraging advanced clinical judgment, technical expertise, and evidence-based practices, you will perform computed tomography (CT) examinations while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional care throughout the imaging experience. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate efficient patient flow, optimize clinical outcomes, and support timely diagnosis and treatment. This role requires a commitment to quality, continuous learning, regulatory compliance, and the organization’s CARES values through compassionate service, accountability, effective communication, and a focus on superior patient outcomes. Type of Opportunity: Part time FTE: 0.60 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality CT imaging procedures using clinical judgment, critical thinking, and evidence-based practices to ensure accurate diagnostic results and patient safety.

  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care by creating a supportive and therapeutic environment that promotes comfort, healing, and positive patient experiences.

  • Educate patients and families on imaging procedures, address questions and concerns, and obtain appropriate pre-procedure screening and safety information.

  • Advocate for patients by recognizing and escalating clinical, ethical, or safety concerns to appropriate leaders and care team members.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, optimize patient flow, prevent delays, and achieve desired clinical outcomes.

  • Conduct thorough patient identification, order verification, safety screenings, and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with established protocols and regulatory standards.

  • Assess patient condition and appropriateness for imaging, addressing safety concerns, lab requirements, contraindications, and conflicting procedures before scanning.

  • Maintain imaging equipment and perform required calibration, quality control, and safety checks according to departmental standards.

  • Recognize, document, and respond appropriately to patient concerns, changes in condition, and unexpected events.

  • Promote an inclusive care environment by respecting and incorporating cultural, spiritual, socioeconomic, age, gender, and lifestyle differences into patient care.

  • Support patient and family education efforts that encourage understanding, self-care, and informed decision-making.

  • Contribute to the onboarding, training, and professional development of students, new employees, and colleagues.

  • Maintain current knowledge of CT technology, imaging protocols, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.

  • Identify and report environmental, equipment, and supply-related safety concerns to support a safe clinical environment.

  • Demonstrate CARES values through accountability, teamwork, respectful communication, continuous learning, and a commitment to superior patient outcomes.

  • Participate in department, hospital, quality improvement, and community initiatives while supporting operational and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

One of the following credential pathways is required:

Certified CT Technologist

  • New Mexico Computed Tomography License (NMCT) required.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Computed Tomography Certification (ARRT(CT)) required.

OR

CT Technologist in Training (Provisional Status)

  • New Mexico Provisional Computed Tomography License (NMPCT) required.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification in Radiography (ARRT(R)) required.

  • Must obtain ARRT(CT) certification and New Mexico CT licensure (NMCT) within two (2) years of obtaining the NMPCT.

Additional Requirement for Provisional CT Licensure

  • Candidates applying under the provisional pathway must meet New Mexico licensure requirements in at least one recognized medical imaging or radiation therapy discipline, such as Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Registered Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.), and be actively pursuing an approved CT certification pathway.
