Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSAs) are a cornerstone of Baker Hughes’ strategy to provide mutually beneficial customer service while ensuring stable and profitable business growth.

As a CSA Customer Application Engineer, you will play a key role within the Commercial Service organization, leading the definition, preparation, and management of the technical portion of LTSA proposals. You will own complex service scopes, cost assumptions, and customer-facing technical deliverables while ensuring technical accuracy, competitiveness, and risk mitigation.

You will partner closely with commercial, sales, engineering, and regional teams to optimize proposal strategies and support customer negotiations on technical, operational, and contractual topics. Acting as a technical advisor to the regional commercial team, you will contribute to deal strategy and help develop customer-focused, risk-balanced service solutions.

As a CSA Customer Application Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the definition, preparation, and management of the technical content associated with LTSA proposals.

  • Interpreting customer technical requirements and translating them into optimized service solutions.

  • Defining, reviewing, and challenging service Scope of Work assumptions to ensure technical and commercial competitiveness.

  • Validating assumptions for both existing and new technologies used within service proposals.

  • Ensuring technical accuracy and cost competitiveness across customer proposals.

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical, operational, and contractual risks.

  • Collaborating with commercial, sales, engineering, and regional teams to develop competitive proposal strategies.

  • Supporting customer negotiations related to technical, operational, and risk management topics.

  • Acting as a technical partner to regional commercial teams throughout the proposal development process.

  • Driving cross-functional alignment to develop customer-focused and commercially sound solutions.

  • Supporting the development of risk-balanced proposals that align with business objectives and customer requirements.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university.

  • Have 5–10 years of relevant industry experience in roles such as Project Engineer, Design Engineer, Application Engineer, Project Manager, or similar technical/commercial positions.

  • Demonstrate experience managing complex scopes and customer-facing activities.

  • Be fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Be willing and able to travel on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a master’s degree in engineering with a focus on Turbomachinery from an accredited college or university.

  • Demonstrate industrial market knowledge and experience in service, commercial, project execution, or application engineering environments.

  • Have strong technical knowledge of rotating machinery, particularly gas turbines, including maintenance concepts, service scopes, and lifecycle cost drivers.

  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned deliverables.

  • Be able to communicate complex technical and commercial topics clearly and effectively to customers, peers, and leadership teams.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and lead the development of complex technical and commercial solutions.

  • Hold a Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
