Your Role


Radio-Canada News is seeking an experienced Cross-Platform Managing Editor to lead our investigative journalism and high-impact content unit, as well as the Décrypteurs fact-checking team.


To succeed in this role, you bring deep experience in investigative journalism, a comprehensive understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP) and exceptional editorial judgment.


Reporting to the Senior Director, Investigative Reporting and Original Content, you will oversee complex investigative projects while ensuring strict adherence to our JSP. You will leverage your creativity and insight into modern newsgathering to generate original, innovative story ideas that elevate the quality and impact of Les Décrypteurs and our investigative reporting across all platforms.


You will provide inspiring leadership while maintaining respectful relationships with team members, Legal Services and management in accordance with corporate workplace health and safety policies. You will also manage day-to-day team administration and build strategic partnerships with CBC investigative units to amplify our content nationwide. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team of seasoned journalists.
  • Oversee cross-platform news production (television, radio and digital) from initial concept through to final publication and broadcast.
  • Supervise investigative reporting, co-ordinating coverage across both CBC and Radio-Canada networks.
  • Drive cross-departmental collaboration, serving as the primary liaison between editorial staff, investigative journalists, fact-checkers and Legal Services in Quebec and across Canada.
  • Track current events and emerging trends to identify strategic coverage opportunities.
  • Uphold editorial rigour via fact-checking, while expanding content reach through partnerships with international newsrooms.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

What You Bring:

  • University degree in journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ journalism experience.
  • Team management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of journalistic processes, newsgathering methods and cross-platform news content production (TV, radio and digital).
  • Expertise in producing investigative stories.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and thorough understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices (see our website).
  • Outstanding writing and storytelling ability.
  • Extensive knowledge of current events and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Creative, innovative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple developing stories simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively anticipate news trends.
  • Excellent command of French (working language).
  • Intermediate spoken, written and reading proficiency in English (BBB).
