Responsibilities

The Credit Data Steward serves as the business owner and governance lead for critical credit and lending data assets across the bank. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of credit-related data used throughout organization. 


The Credit Data Steward acts as the liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, risk partners, and data governance functions to establish data standards, resolve data quality issues, support regulatory requirements, and enable trusted data for credit decisioning, portfolio management, and risk reporting. 

We are in office culture with office locations in Minneapolos/St Paul, Madison WI, Milwaukee WI Huron Building, 8750 West Bryn Mawr Chicago IL near Rosemont, Grand Rapids MI, Ann Arbor MI, Indianapolis, Evansville IN, Louisville West Market, and Nashville Gulch. 


Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $60,000/yr - $121,300/yr plus bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.


Key Accountabilities  


Credit Data Governance 

  • Serve as the designated steward for critical credit and lending data domains. 
  • Define and maintain business metadata, data definitions, business rules, and data quality standards. 
  • Establish ownership and accountability for critical credit data elements. 
  • Lead governance activities related to, but not limited to, borrower, guarantor, collateral, facility, exposure, risk rating, covenant, and loan performance data. 
  • Participate in enterprise data governance councils and risk management committees. 

Data Quality Management 

  • Develop and maintain Key Data Quality Indicators (DQIs) and monitoring processes. 
  • Identify, analyze, prioritize, and remediate data quality issues. 
  • Perform root cause analysis of recurring data defects. 
  • Partner with technology teams to implement sustainable data quality controls. 
  • Monitor and report data quality performance metrics to senior leadership. 

Regulatory and Risk Compliance 

  • Support compliance with regulatory expectations 
  • Ensure critical credit risk data is traceable, governed, and defensible. 

Data Lineage and Metadata Management 

  • Document end-to-end data lineage from source systems through reporting and analytics environments. 
  • Maintain business glossaries and data dictionaries. 
  • Validate data transformations and business logic across systems. 
  • Support implementation and maintenance of metadata management platforms. 

Business Partnership 

  • Collaborate with multiple departments across the organization 
  • Translate business requirements into data governance and data quality solutions. 
  • Facilitate issue resolution across multiple business units. 

Project and Change Management 

  • Participate in lending system conversions and modernization initiatives. 
  • Evaluate data impacts of new products, regulatory requirements, and business processes. 
  • Define governance requirements for new data sources and applications. 
  • Support enterprise data strategy initiatives. 

Reporting and Analytics Support 

  • Ensure data supports accurate regulatory reports, credit risk reporting, portfolio management reporting, concentration monitoring and commercial loan analytics

Qualifications and Education Requirements 


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration or a related field required. 
  • 7–12+ years of experience in data management, and data governance frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience working with commercial credit or corporate banking data is highly preferred. 
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting, credit risk analytics, or data governance programs. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-wide data quality initiatives. 
  • Prefer a strong understanding of Commercial lending operations, Credit underwriting processes, Loan accounting systems, Credit risk rating methodologies, CECL methodologies, Regulatory reporting requirements, Commercial loan lifecycle management.
  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, SQL, Databricks and Microsoft Office applications
