The Role You Could Play 

 

The Creative Lead is a senior, concept-led role responsible for shaping the ideas that will define MECCA’s biggest brand moments.  

Sitting within the newly formed Creative Direction team and reporting to the Head of Creative, this role sets the creative tone for landmark campaigns, initiatives, and future brand expressions — ensuring everything we put into the world feels distinctly, and unmistakably MECCA. 

This is a role for a creative who leads with ideas. Someone who understands how to turn strategy and insight into original, emotionally resonant concepts—360 degrees, and who is motivated by storytelling, culture, and all visual mediums. From first spark to final expression, the Creative Lead forms ideas that are strategically sound, creatively distinctive, and true to who MECCA is becoming.  

Working in close partnership with the Creative Strategy team, together with the Head of Design, Art Direction, and delivery teams, this role helps ensure our ideas are consistently and beautifully brought to life. Beyond the work itself, the Creative Lead plays an important role in nurturing MECCA’s creative culture — one that values curiosity, collaboration, generosity, and bold thinking. 

 
What you’ll do 

Lead creative thinking and concept development 

  • Develop and lead creative concepts for MECCA’s most significant campaigns, moments, and brand initiatives. 

  • Translate brand strategy, cultural insight, and business opportunity into clear, compelling creative ideas. 

  • Partner closely with the Head of Creative to evolve and protect MECCA’s long-term brand vision. 

Shape brand storytelling and customer experience 

  • Champion the Red Thread across strategy, storytelling, and customer experience. 

  • Ensure ideas ladder up to the future MECCA wants to become — not just where the brand is today. 

Collaborate across creative and delivery teams 

  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Design and the Design team to bring ideas to life with craft and consistency. 

  • Collaborate with Art Direction, Content, Visual Merchandising, Digital, Retail, and Marketing partners to ensure creative excellence across every touchpoint. 

  • Inspire and elevate creative thinking across teams without directly managing executional delivery. 

Lead through influence and craft 

  • Be hands-on in creative development, from early ideation through to concept refinement and presentation. 

  • Facilitate and contribute to creative working sessions and workshops for key strategic projects. 

  • Provide clear, thoughtful creative feedback that raises the quality of work across the business. 

  • Act as a trusted creative partner to senior stakeholders. 

 

What You Will Bring 

  • A lead, senior or strong mid-weight creative with experience as a Designer, Art Director or Creative. 

  • 5 years experience in working within creative agencies, studios, or brand teams with similar scale and ambition. 

  • Proven experience developing campaign-level ideas that define brand worlds and set creative direction. 

Creative strengths 

  • A strategic creative thinker who spots cultural shifts and turns insight into standout ideas. 

  • A confident concept lead who can clearly articulate creative vision and inspire others. 

  • Strong understanding of brand, storytelling, and customer experience across multiple channels. 

  • Deep appreciation for craft — and for the role of design, copy, and art direction in bringing ideas to life.
