How will your role help us transform hope into reality?

The Country Manager Germany is responsible for the building and single-mindedly leading a strong local Blueprint Medicines affiliate that delivers with a compliant focus on patients first versus ambitious business goals. The position holder provides x-functional leadership and drives teamwork to make BPM Germany a high-performing and great place to work and to ensure alignment towards the companies’ goals & culture. The incumbent is accountable for all local day-to-day operations of BPM Germany.

The Commercial Lead, Germany is responsible for the commercial strategy and tactics, the build-out as well as the end-to-end management of sales, marketing, sales operations, including commercial training and analytics. Providing commercial input to drug discovery and development activities, this role also requires a leader that collaborates cross-functionally to determine the overall strategy in support of the commercial objectives within BPM. The CM is responsible for delivering the performance of the German affiliate including oversight of the Lead of Country (LOC) P&L.

The Country Manager and Commercial Lead, Germany will act as Chairperson to the LOC DE leadership team, and act as the point of contact within the national trade register.  

To ensure strong partnership to the INT region the role has a dotted reporting line to Head of INT Commercial Operations.


What will you do?

  • Develop strategic direction and x-functional plans for Germany in support of multiple  indications and product launches while also ensuring ongoing financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Striving for excellence in executing the local P&L, including the focus on revenue maximization while being resource disciplined to support the German and International profitability plans
  • Develop long-term plans, forecasts, and budgets, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance with full ownership of P&L for Germany
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee the scale of the BPM organization in Germany according to local business needs and lifecycle management of the organization
  • Ensure BPM Germany continue being a great place to work by building and leading a top-tier x-functional team in a manner that inspires confidence, generates ongoing commitment, and enables excellence in all aspects of the business.
  • Ensure x-functional alignment of strategy and execution as well as foster close collaboration with above country functions.
  • Making Blueprint Medicines a trusted and valued partner for external customers and key stakeholders in Germany. Represent Blueprint Medicines at key events and during interactions with key stakeholders in the German market.
  • Collaborate with the P&MA Senior Director on P&MA strategy and activities in DE, with special focus on G-BA benefit assessment and partnering within price negotiation team with GKVSV. Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, internal stakeholders as well as regional access relations.
  • Strive to accelerate and encourage company´s growth and success while ensuring all local practices are compliant to country regulations as well as all applicable BPM policies and procedures are established to integrate compliance into everyday business.
  • Continue to oversee the commercial strategy, operations and execution for Germany in close partnership and leadership with INT and global stakeholders.
  • Build, lead, develop and maintain a top-tier DE commercial team – englobing sales and marketing functions
  • Lead innovation and drive efforts to create a fit-for-purpose multi-channel commercial platform that allows for face to face as well as remote customer engagements.
  • Identify new business opportunities to drive business growth & implement new customer acquisition strategies in Germany
  • Develop and administer incentive plans which entice individuals as well as teams to perform successfully against objectives in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to ensure outstanding service and customer support while creating value improvement programs over time to maintain superior customer and patient experience.

 

What minimum qualifications do we require?

  • University degree in Life Sciences or Business/Marketing
  • 10+ years in pharmaceutical sales and product marketing
  • Proven success in high profile leadership roles, sales experiences and product launches
  • 3-5 years of experience in the dedicated therapeutic area 
  • Field sales and field sales management essential field experience
  • Marketing experience at local, regional or International level
  • Deep understanding and demonstrable examples of successfully navigating German market access processes and strategies

 

What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?

  • Excellent leadership, management, and planning skills 
  • Knowledge of local pharmaceutical Code of Practice, regulations, and SOPs & state of the art knowledge in commercial area  
  • Good analytical skills and understanding of marketing principles and strategies 
  • Track record of Sales/ Commercial leadership at either local, regional or International level  
  • Relationship building, internal and external stakeholder management, excellent communication skills, excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
