The Cotton Gin Manager is responsible for the overall management, operation, and performance of the cotton gin facility. This position oversees daily operations, employee supervision, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, quality control, production efficiency, customer service, and financial stewardship of the gin.

The Gin Manager provides leadership to seasonal and full-time employees while ensuring cotton is processed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with United Agricultural Cooperative's standards of quality and service.

This position serves as the operational leader of the gin and works closely with producers, warehouse personnel, transportation partners, maintenance staff, and company leadership.

Operations Management
  • Direct daily cotton gin operations during harvest season.
  • Coordinate production schedules to maximize throughput.
  • Monitor efficiency, downtime, and production performance.
  • Develop staffing plans based on anticipated production.
  • Ensure quality processing standards are maintained.
  • Monitor moisture, contamination, and fiber quality concerns.
  • Coordinate bale movement and warehouse logistics.
  • Maintain production reports and operational documentation.
Leadership & Supervision
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and supervise seasonal and full-time employees.
  • Train employees on operational procedures and safety requirements.
  • Assign daily work responsibilities.
  • Coach employees toward improved performance.
  • Complete performance evaluations.
  • Address employee relations concerns with Human Resources.
  • Foster a positive team culture built on accountability and professionalism.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.
  • Ensure OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards are followed.
  • Conduct routine safety meetings.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses.
  • Maintain required regulatory records.
  • Coordinate with the Safety Department regarding inspections and corrective actions.
Equipment & Maintenance
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor equipment condition.
  • Schedule repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain inventory of critical replacement parts.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Assist in long-term capital improvement planning.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Assist with annual operating budgets.
  • Monitor labor costs.
  • Control operating expenses.
  • Recommend capital improvements.
  • Review purchasing needs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of company resources.
