Job Title: Footwear Costing Manager - Emerging Brands
Reports to: Sr. Costing Manager
Location: Portland, Oregon – Office-Hybrid
The Role
Footwear Costing is an integral part of the product creation process. We collaborate with both internal and external partners to optimize product costs that directly impacts profitability. We work with Development, Design and Merchandising to value engineer product, ensuring what does not add value doesn’t remain in the shoe.
In this role you will lead the Footwear Costing function within our Emerging Brands (Teva & Ahnu) and providing day to day costing expertise to identify, prioritize, and implement cost savings initiatives focused on hitting seasonal product target FOBs and Margin. In collaboration with our Asia Costing partners, you will develop pre-costing tools and training programs that highlight Design for Manufacturing best practices to achieve optimal product costs.
You will be a key contributor to overall profitability by creating and evolving seasonal FOB targets to project short and long-range product costing and propose cost mitigation plans to our Product Line Management, Product Development, Design, Materials Development, Sourcing, Supply Planning and Asia Costing partners.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:
- Manage the product costing process and business margin planning from brief stage to final salesman samples.
- Ensure that concerns and challenges around product costs are proactively addressed throughout the product development season including cost engineering and cost saving recommendations during costing reviews.
- Provide day to day costing support to the Product Team, Development, and direct report(s) to meet seasonal margin targets, including communicating margin scenarios to Product Line Managers with cost updates and margin variance.
- Perform financial analysis and scenario planning for cross-functional teams to help shape decisions that capitalize on opportunity, increase profitability, and bring value to the product.
- Utilize manufacturing and product knowledge to achieve target FOB. Help impart this knowledge to cross-functional team members as well as direct reports.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities through effective use of systems.
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure brand profitability and margin expectations are met.
- Negotiate with partner factories and suppliers to meet seasonal brand target margin by utilizing manufacturing and product knowledge.
- Create costing reports, providing visibility to the Product and Development leadership on cost estimates, margin, sourcing, and trade agreements etc.
- Build seasonal pre-costing to Development and Product teams to ensure new product development will be commercial.
- Report global brand margin and analysis at each milestone to all regions.
- Collaborate with Product and Development teams to review and manage brand margin at key milestones.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis on financial or business analysis, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of product costing experience required in apparel/accessories.
- Thorough knowledge of financial business reporting and pricing models.
- 1-2+ years’ experience of training new team members
- If a people manager, 4+ years management experience
