Onix Group is headquartered in Kennett Square and provides administrative and back-office support to a family of affiliated companies across the Mid-Atlantic. Those companies include skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, addiction treatment programs, hotels, and commercial real estate. We are growing, and this role will grow with us.
The Role
This is the senior HR leader for the organization. You will lead HR for all employees across our affiliated companies, set HR strategy, and own the function end to end.
What You'll Do
- Lead HR for ~ 2,000 employees across multiple locations in six states (DE, FL, MD, NJ, PA, VA)
- Partner with senior leadership and ownership on staffing, organizational changes, and workforce planning
- Manage employee relations and workplace investigations, and work with outside counsel when needed
- Handle agency charges and hearings, including EEOC, state labor department, unemployment, and workers' compensation
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention, including licensed clinical staff in a competitive labor market
- Own compensation, benefits, and annual plan renewals, including carrier negotiations
- Oversee performance management, corrective action, and terminations
- Ensure compliance with federal and state employment law, including wage and hour, leave, and licensure and exclusion screening
- Own HR policies, handbooks, and training, and keep them current
- Protect confidential employee and health information

QualificationsWhat You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- [7+] years of progressive HR experience, including [3+] years leading an HR function
- Healthcare experience required; long-term care or skilled nursing strongly preferred
- Experience managing HR across multiple locations or legal entities
- Hands-on experience with workers' compensation and unemployment claims
- Experience negotiating and managing health insurance and benefits [fully insured / self-funded]
- Working knowledge of wage and hour, FMLA, ADA, and multi-state employment law
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
- Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- At least 7 years of progressive HR experience
- At least 3 years leading an HR function
- Healthcare experience
- Long-term care or skilled nursing experience
- Experience managing HR across multiple locations or legal entities
- Hands-on experience with workers' compensation and unemployment claims
- Experience negotiating and managing health insurance and benefits, including fully insured or self-funded plans
- Working knowledge of wage and hour law, FMLA, ADA, and multi-state employment law
