Job Summary:

 This position will provide guidance and consultation on a variety of legal matters including, but not limited to merger and acquisition transactions, contract negotiations, and general corporate governance. 

Essential Job Functions for the M&A Counsel will include:

  • Reviewing, drafting, structuring, and negotiating agreements in connection with M&A
  • Conducting legal M&A due diligence efforts and assisting with firm-wide due diligence efforts
  • Collaborating with business partners across the business
  • Assisting, communicating with, and overseeing the work of outside counsel
  • Researching and advising on relevant legal issues
  • Maintaining a current working knowledge of new laws and regulatory developments
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one state (Colorado preferred)
  • 4 or more years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Experience in mergers & acquisitions law required
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Strong drafting, research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with federal securities law including the Investment Advisor Act of 1940 preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with teams and independently, as well as manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills

Work Schedule: Daytime and evening hours as needed.

Working Conditions: Professional office environment (working from the office may be required, depending on team’s needs).  Will be assigned to a workstation. Standing and sitting. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs. 

Location: Remote, located in Denver, CO preferred

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications.  This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs. 

Base Pay Range
$145,000$155,000 USD
