Remote: Team members who live within the U.S. but are not local within a commutable distance from one of our offices may work remotely, with occasional travel to an Experity office for meetings, team collaboration or as needed.
This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys building. The successful candidate will bring discipline to accounting operations, establish scalable processes, strengthen internal controls, and develop a high-performing team that delivers exceptional service to both internal stakeholders and customers.
The Controller will balance technical accounting expertise with operational leadership, rolling up their sleeves to solve problems while creating sustainable processes that reduce complexity, improve accuracy, and increase confidence in our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Accounting Operations
Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, revenue accounting, and month-end close.
Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while improving consistency, quality, and efficiency.
Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Build Operational Excellence
Evaluate current accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
Design and implement standardized processes that create consistency across the accounting organization.
Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues that impact customers, billing, invoicing, collections, and financial reporting.
Improve the quality and reliability of accounting data through better workflows, documentation, and system utilization.
Drive process discipline while maintaining a practical, customer-focused approach.
Strengthen Systems and Controls
Optimize the use of existing financial systems and identify opportunities for automation.
Develop appropriate controls that reduce risk while enabling efficient operations.
Ensure accounting processes support a positive experience for customers and internal business partners.
Lead efforts to improve billing and invoicing accuracy, helping reduce customer friction and operational rework.
Build a High-Performing Team
Lead, coach, and develop an engaged accounting team through clear expectations, regular feedback, and meaningful development opportunities.
Foster an empowered culture where team members take ownership, solve problems, and continuously improve how work gets done.
Build accountability while encouraging collaboration across Finance and the broader organization.
Develop future leaders and strengthen organizational capability.
Continuous Improvement
Establish meaningful performance metrics for the accounting organization.
Create a culture of continuous improvement where processes are regularly evaluated and refined.
Partner closely with the CFO to develop the roadmap toward a world-class accounting function capable of supporting the Company's long-term objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including experience leading accounting teams within a private equity environment preferred.
Experience in software, SaaS, healthcare technology, healthcare services, or other complex, multi-entity environments preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
Demonstrated success improving accounting operations, implementing standardized processes, and strengthening financial controls.
Experience leading Netsuite ERP or accounting system improvements preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
Ability to balance strategic priorities with a willingness to be hands-on when needed.
Ownership of PCAOB audit process and completion.
