Plastipak is a growing, multinational manufacturing company headquartered in the greater Detroit area is seeking an experienced attorney for an in-house counsel position within our corporate Legal Department.  In this role, you will draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents, conduct research on legal and business matters, provide general legal advice, and support additional projects as directed by the General Counsel and other senior managers.
 

You Will:

  • Research and analyze legal matters relating to the business of the Company
    • Legislative & regulatory activity
    • Major commercial and trade-related decisions
    • Industry trends and development
  • Draft & negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documents
    • Vendor and customer agreements
    • Credit agreements, equipment leases and other financing documents
    • Corporate governance & global compliance
    • M&A and other transactional projects
  • Provide counsel to management and other departments within the company
  • Coordinate with outside legal counsel on litigation and/or transactional matters
  • Represent the company as needed before court, tribunal, or administrative body
  • Other related activities as directed by Legal Department leadership

You Have:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active member of the State Bar of Michigan or another U.S. state bar (or eligibility for immediate admission)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working for a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably with experience on commercial transactions and contracting in a manufacturing context.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language and/or international experience are a plus
  • Candidate should demonstrate excellent analytic, communication, research, and writing skills
  • Also strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and across various functional areas

Skills Required
