The Corporate Accounting Manager will manage the corporate close, own the accuracy of the corporate books, and partner closely with the Controller, CFO, and department leaders.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can build strong processes, develop people, and turn complex real estate accounting into clear, timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Close & Reporting

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for Evergreen's corporate entities on a defined close calendar.

  • Review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations (cash, intercompany, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt, payroll, and benefits liabilities).

  • Prepare consolidated and entity-level corporate financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.

  • Account for corporate revenue streams such as property management fees, development fees, asset management fees, and construction fees.

  • Manage intercompany activity and eliminations between corporate entities and with affiliated partnerships.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Coordinate the annual corporate audit and tax return preparation with external CPAs; prepare audit schedules and respond to requests.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, bank covenants, and corporate lender and surety reporting requirements.

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and documented procedures for corporate accounting.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and develop corporate staff accountants and AP/payroll support; set priorities and review work for accuracy.

  • Conduct performance reviews and support hiring and onboarding.

Process & Systems

  • Improve close efficiency and reporting quality through standardization and automation.

  • Serve as a power user of the corporate general ledger and related systems (AP, payroll, expense management) and partner with IT on enhancements.

Business Partnership

  • Lead the annual corporate budget and monthly budget-to-actual reporting with department heads.

  • Manage corporate cash forecasting, line-of-credit activity, and treasury support.

  • Support executive leadership with ad hoc analysis on overhead, fee income, and entity profitability.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years supervising accounting staff.

  • Experience with corporate or holding-company accounting in a multi-entity environment, ideally in real estate.

  • Experience leading a monthly close and preparing audit-ready financial statements.

Preferred

  • Experience at a real estate developer, owner, or property management company, including fee revenue and development cost accounting.

  • Familiarity with affordable housing structures (LIHTC partnerships, developer fees, GP entities).

  • Public accounting audit experience.

Licenses & Certifications

  • CPA license preferred (or actively pursuing).

Technical & Physical Skills

  • Strong command of GAAP, accrual accounting, intercompany accounting, and consolidations.

  • Experience with corporate ERP or GL systems (e.g., RealPage, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Yardi corporate modules).

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial models).

Other Requirements

  • Proven accuracy, organization, and ability to meet firm deadlines across competing priorities.

  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

  • Availability for extended hours during month-end close, year-end, and audit periods as needed.

Skills

  • Technical rigor: Catches errors before they reach reports and can explain the “why” behind every number.

  • Leadership: Coaches the team, delegates clearly, and builds a culture of accountability.

  • Communication: Translates accounting results into plain language for department leaders, executives, and lenders.

  • Continuous improvement: Looks for ways to shorten the close and reduce manual work.

  • Integrity and discretion: Handles confidential financial information with care.

  • Mission alignment: Values Evergreen’s commitment to transforming communities and improving lives.
