We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Accountant in our Boston office. The Corporate Accountant will report directly to the Director, Corporate Accounting and work closely with the Cabot Corporate Accounting team and others throughout the organization. They will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with effective communication, operational, and financial skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The person in this position must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and diplomacy regarding relevant information for all Cabot Properties, Inc. and Cabot Properties, L.P. and its affiliated investment vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Ownership of the expenditure cycle involving the review of expenses to ensure GL coding is accurate and expense is approved in current year budget
- • Work closely with the Accounts Payable team which involves:
- Monitoring the AvidXchange (AP software) inbox to ensure timely processing of invoices and providing solutions to unmanaged situations
- MRI vendor file maintenance requirements (electronic banking information) and initiating all international /domestic wire payments.
- Monitor AvidXchange process workflow through to check/wire completion.
- Assist with the annual vendor 1099 tax filings
- Revenue cycle responsibilities include:
- Initiating billing to foreign entities and vehicles
- Recording charges and receipts in MRI
- Daily responsibility of prior day bank activity review
- Month end close responsibilities involve bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and budget to actual reporting for departments
- Ad hoc projects as they arise research vendor inquiries, annual audit requests and liaison
- Interact and establish a positive attitude with the other departments at Cabot
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Accounting degree required
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all members of the organization
- Self-motivated, high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands and Work Environment:
- The job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time and using a computer approximately 90% for this position’s duties
- Travel related team gatherings or conferences
