Job Title: Player Development Coordinator
Department: Hockey Development
Reports To: Assistant Executive Director of Hockey Development, USA Hockey, Inc.
Basic Function: Facilitate regional and national development of USA Hockey’s youth coaches/programs
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the implementation of USA Hockey’s American Development Model at the grassroots level
Mentor coaches to understand and execute best developmental principles
Coordinate and communicate USA Hockey recommendations to youth hockey clubs
Deliver 6U/8U and Level 1 Coaching Education clinics both virtually and in-person
Assist with USA Hockey affiliate, district, and national player development camps
Build strong trustworthy relationships within the hockey community to influence change, growth, and progress through the facilitation of the American Development Model at all ages.
Provide intellectual leadership for player and coach Development through the analyzation, interpretation and facilitation of Long-Term Athlete Development principles
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a sports related field or equivalent experience in ice hockey required
Knowledge of USA Hockey’s youth hockey structure is preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage players, coaches, parents, and association administrators effectively
Key Competencies:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Genuine passion for youth and Long-Term Athlete Development at the grassroots level.
Leadership, organizational, management skills and a strong work ethic
Ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make timely decisions
Self-directed individual who can work in a cooperative and collaborative manner, coordinating efforts with multiple stakeholders to carry out events and initiatives for the development of hockey
Work Conditions:
This is a field position requiring travel to rinks, associations, and events as a regular and essential function of the role.
Occasional national travel for staff meetings, training, and cross-district events as directed by the Regional Manager.
Work is performed in a combination of home office, rink, and community event settings.
Evening and weekend hours are required
Physical demands include the ability to skate and demonstrate on ice as needed
Salary: $57,784 annually
This is a remote full-time position. Benefits include health, dental, vision, covered by employer (excluding small deduction for family dental coverage) 403B with 4% match after six months, 12 paid holidays plus a summer break, vacation accrual, personal time, and sick time.
