THE ROLE: Coordinator, History Scheduling
Reporting to the Director of Scheduling and Strategy, the Coordinator, History Scheduling plays a critical role in building and maintaining programming schedules across linear and digital platforms while supporting content strategy, competitive analysis, and cross-functional initiatives. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for television programming, audience insights, and emerging technologies.
MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO: Coordinator, History Scheduling
- Entering linear schedule into What’s On (internal scheduling software), including creating air schedules, revisions, formats, piece number creation, etc.
- Entering multi-platform schedule that feeds key dates to FVOD, TVE and DTO
- Responsible for episodic scheduling of series across The History Channel, History Channel en Espanol and Military History
- Point person for various internal/external departments, including but not limited to: Ad Sales, Sponsorship, Programming/Production, Digital, Traffic, International, Finance, Content Distribution, Promos/Marketing, Social Media, Commercial Operations, and Listings
- Track competitive networks and programming trends, providing insights, and coordinating with Director/VP of Department, Marketing, and Research to inform scheduling and content strategy decisions
- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to identify efficiencies, streamline workflows, and support more effective decision-making across linear and digital operations.
- Ad-hoc projects including building presentations as needed
- The Coordinator should be collaborative and have a willingness to contribute to new programming strategies for The History Channel linear and non-linear platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
You’ll have the opportunity to innovate and learn as an integral part of the team that builds the programming schedule from top to bottom. You'll use both analytics and creativity in this role. You'll be asked for new ideas to help infuse the schedule with strength and to learn what drives The History Channel audience. Finally, you'll be exposed to various departments and stakeholders to learn the goals, needs and direction so you can become a trusted partner.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Coordinator, History Scheduling
- General understanding of the media entertainment industry and competitive landscape, specifically of Programming or related business divisions.
- 1-3 years of media industry experience highly desired. Relevant internship or other experience will also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication & organizational skills with ability to multitask and adapt quickly
- Knowledge of television programming and the pop culture competitive landscape is required
- Strong interest in data analysis and applying data-based solutions a plus
- Desire to learn and contribute to the content strategy
- Computer skills - with proficiency in programs Word, Excel. PowerPoint and AI platforms
