Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Community Standards is a full-time, 12-month position that oversees the day-to-day administration of student health, wellness and behavioral intervention processes. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Coordinator of Community Standards works collaboratively with students, faculty and administration to address student-related concerns on and off campus. This position works to educate the university community regarding student policy expectations.  The start date for this position is in July 2026.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Student Conduct Board: SCB is an all-University committee of students, faculty and staff that provides a representative community view and voice on the resolution of student misconduct and on policy matters related to the content and implementation of the Student Code of Conduct. The Coordinator serves as an ex-officio member of SCB and is responsible for managing SCB affairs in collaboration with the Dean of Students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Receive, triage and process incident reports from the University community.
  • Manage the department’s administrative support, including scheduling, preparing for hearings and sending decision letters
  • Manage incident reports and student records through university databases
  • Ensure reports are completed fully, and in a timely manner, engaging in further inquiry should circumstances warrant doing so
  • Serve as a primary hearing officer for cases adjudicated by the Code of Conduct
  • Coordinate hearings assigned to other hearing officers
  • Liaise with other administrative units to gather critical information as needed (e.g. Public Safety, Facilities, etc.)
  • Train hearing officers
  • Identify, recruit and train members of Student Conduct Board
  • Assist with annual review of the Code of Conduct, website and other policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Technical acumen to manage complex IT systems (e.g., Maxient, Colleague)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks that require timely attention
  • Ability to manage sensitive/private information
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion 
  • Strong conflict resolution & mediation skills 
  • Ability to maintain composure, integrity and demonstrate ethical behavior when dealing with emotional topics 
  • Experience working with students of diverse student populations, including cultural, ethnic and varying levels of ability
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ student affairs or related experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment 
  • Experience working with different databases and IT systems; direct experience with Maxient case management software is preferred.
  • Previous role in student affairs, housing, etc. is preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lifting 25lbs or less
  • Occasional weekend hours during high-volume work periods (Fall opening, Spring closing)
  • Serve on Student Life On-Call (SLOC) rotation to support the overall management of student life at the University by assisting response staff in decision-making around incidents of student concern that require immediate attention outside normal business hours
