SUMMARY

The Controls Consultant is responsible for the management, creation and delivery of the controls solution and pricing during the bidding process for Direct Sales and Retrofit projects.   This role supports the Sales and Design teams by ensuring that controls solutions align with Commander standards and deviations from such standard are highlighted and reviewed for suitability.   The Controls Consultant also assists in the development and implementation of technical solutions and provides assistance to the Controls Project Management team in the delivery of the projects when required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead on-time delivery of the controls solution and costing for TGW US sales bids, including both direct sales and retrofit bids.
  • Create and update KPIs to measure sales costs against actual costs, reviewing progress at defined points in project delivery.
  • Contribute to and manage a project risk register for each assigned project.
  • Facilitate ongoing coordination among customers, other departments of the implementation process, and relevant suppliers.
  • Support controls related discussions with the customer or other suppliers as required.
  • Provide specification and clarification of control interfaces to third-party works as part of cost generation.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant U.S., company, and customer safety and quality standards.
  • Serve as subject matter expert, providing guidance on costing control to the Sales team, Controls Project Management team, and other Controls Consultants.
  • Create and maintain relationships with other TGW hubs to review and benchmark TGW US cost models, and suggest efficiency and cost-effectiveness improvements.
  • Ensure a clean handover of the project solution and costs to the Controls Project Management team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience with intralogistics systems at varying levels of automation.

Travel:

Up to 20% of travel as required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of controls systems.
  • Hands-on project management experience within an engineering capacity.
  • Robust knowledge of AutoCAD and strong ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Effective communication skills for wide variety of audiences, internal (other employees) and external (customers and vendors)
  • Thorough, specialized knowledge of sensor/actuator technology, logistics technology, and TGW’s product offerings.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, combined with initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in an informal leadership capacity
  • Prior experience in material handling and automation industry.
  • Robust knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to go to site frequently and move safely around industrial and/or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.

Other Requirements

This position may require work at TGW customer sites.  TGW’s customers may require background checks before accessing their sites.  Refusal to participate in a customer-required background check may result in a customer barring access and a subsequent reduction in work.
