THE ROLE
As our new Controller, you will be a key leader in our dynamic finance department, overseeing all accounting operations and tax workstreams for our five companies. We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented professional with a passion for team development and process improvement.
In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of U.S. GAAP to ensure our company's finances are in order. You will manage and mentor a team of four accountants and support staff, driving efficiency and accuracy across the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage all accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll activities, including the monthly close processes.
· Manage and mentor a team of accountants and support staff, while providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
· Collaborate closely with the finance team to align budgets, streamline financial processes, and support strategic growth initiatives.
· Will lead tax and audit workstream.
· Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Oversee bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and other accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
· Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and propose solutions for improvement. Implement best practices across our businesses in the U.S. and Europe.
· Ensure compliance with US and European accounting principles (GAAP and IFRS) and local regulations. Stay updated on changes to statutory reporting and accounting standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA designation is desirable but not required.
· Minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
· In-depth knowledge of GAAP. A working knowledge of IFRS is also desirable but not required.
· Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and discrepancies.
· Good people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks or others) and Microsoft Excel is a plus.
