Position Summary

The Controller will oversee the financial operations of our custom millwork shop, ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective management of accounts payable/receivable. This role is responsible for creating and explaining financial statements and ensuring compliance with all applicable labor and accounting regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting:
    • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Explain financial performance and variances to management.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant labor and accounting regulations.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:
    • Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
    • Oversee billing, collections, and vendor payment processes.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely processing of transactions.
  • System Management & Process Improvement:
    • Utilize QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite to maintain and report on financial data.
    • Develop and implement internal controls and processes to safeguard assets and improve operational efficiency.
    • Assist in the annual budgeting process and financial forecasting.
  • Compliance & Audit:
    • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local labor laws and accounting standards.
    • Prepare documentation for audits and support audit activities as required.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5  years’ experience in an accounting or financial management role, preferably in a manufacturing or custom millwork environment.
    • Proven experience in managing accounts payable/receivable, procurement, and inventory receiving processes.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
    • Familiarity with GAAP and labor law compliance.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

Working Conditions

  • This role is primarily office-based within a custom millwork shop environment.
  • Occasional visits to the production or receiving areas may be required.
  • Must comply with all company safety protocols and applicable labor laws.
