Technology (OT) teams are key in producing and delivering medicine to patients. The organization is currently undergoing a transformation towards digitalization, advancing fundamental elements to meet future needs, such as using new technologies.
This position, based in Genentech's South San Francisco, California facility, provides the opportunity to have a key role in a highly automated pharmaceutical drug substance and drug product manufacturing facilities. The site employs highly integrated computer control systems to manage plant operations and
manufacturing data. This role will report to the IT OT Head at the site.
What you will be working on:
Provide people leadership and development for a team of site systems engineers and system owners.
Maintain the Control Systems strategy and roadmap in collaboration with business partners, IT counterparts, and external vendors.
Maintain accountability for the execution of the Site Control Systems roadmap and contribute to the overarching Site Digital strategy.
Oversee 24/7 technical support for Manufacturing Computerized Systems (GMP and non-GMP) within a high-stakes manufacturing environment.
Proactively manage and mitigate dependencies as global and local systems evolve, including upgrades (e.g. MQTT, Containerization) and new technology implementations.
Act as the primary technical advisor, fostering seamless collaboration between site operations and IT teams.
Drive the reliability, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management of site control systems.
Supervise engineering tasks and oversee critical application administration, including patching, upgrades, audit support, performance tuning, and system log maintenance.
Contribute to the design and development of scalable control system architectures that align with business requirements.
Execute rigorous computer system validation and maintain compliance across the control system lifecycle.
Support Cybersecurity initiatives for Manufacturingq.
Negotiate and Maintain support/service agreements with key vendors.
Support OPEX/CAPEX financial planning activities at the site.
Participate in monthly meetings focused on OT Cybersecurity to ensure alignment at the global level.
Support the end-to-end Biologics Value Chain, spanning from Clinical (CSC, PTDN) Drug Substance and Drug Product operations.
Provide support for key stakeholder functions including Pilot Plant Automation and Clinical Packaging.
Represent ITOT as a member of Leadership Teams within the business.
Serve as a member of the Site ITOT Leadership Team.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related engineering or scientific discipline.
A minimum of 10 years systems engineer experience involved in the design, implementation, and/or support of control systems, preferably in a regulated industry is preferred.
24X7 support, participate in an on-call environment to meet business continuity requirements, including weekends and holidays as required.
Experience with control system hardware e.g., controller, power supplies, and I/O’s.
Experience with Emerson DCS DeltaV, MES Syncade, OSIsoft PI, Rockwell Automation AssetCentre, iFIX, FactoryTalk, Studio 5000 Logix, and various OPC architectures is a plus.
Experience working with Antivirus and backup applications for Control Systems.
Understanding of the Purdue Model, Network Segmentation and OT Cybersecurity is a plus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $150,200 - $279,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
