Job Description

Responsible for the drafting of contracts for corporate products, such as risk policies, annuity policies, fund rules and agreements that are legally sound, accurate and meet the needs of the stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Drafting of production documents;
• Consulting with product owners and legal and business experts to establish the basis for the contractual documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities in relation to fund documentation and queries thereon.
• Interpret the contents of contracts relating to corporate business.
• Drafting of client documentation for corporate products and ensuring that contracts drafted;
• Meet the requirements of legislation;
• Adhere to the requirements of stakeholders such as clients, product owners and legal & business experts.
• Drafting complex, customised client contracts that deviate from the standard templates.
• Identifying any ambiguities, omissions, errors and inconsistencies in drafting instructions received and resolving these issues with the appropriate parties.
• Proof reading of documents drafted to ensure quality, content and adherence to legislation.
• Regular liaison with the authorities, consultants, legal advisers, trustees and other experts to clarify and resolve issues.
• Networks with business units, legal experts and product owners to establish the basis for contractual documentation and ensure documents meet business requirements;
• With the assistance of the legal advisers, keeping abreast of changes in legislation that could impact client documentation.
• May need to train other drafters and check documents.
• Interpret the contents of the corporate contracts relating to the retirement fund and risk business.
• Interacting with and support team members to meet the teams’ common goal and objectives

Requirements:

• Matric
• Knowledge of corporate products (especially in retirement fund, group risk, investment or annuity business).
• Drafting skills at an intermediate drafter level, with at least 3 years’ experience working as a contractual drafter.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Proficient in speaking and writing in English.
• Ability to interpret contracts such as rules, agreements and policies, identify omissions, ambiguities, and other shortcomings and resolve these with the relevant stakeholders.
• Proficiency in the use of MS Word.
• Superior attention to detail.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
